Latest Update to Subsidy Rates

The Alberta Child Care Subsidy is a program offering financial assistance to eligible lower- to middle-income families who have a child enrolled in a licensed program.

Furthermore, a 5-year plan is now in effect that will include more income brackets in the program and provide grants to childcare facilities to achieve lower fees. We will update this page as soon as there are any changes.

Clever Daycare is a licensed daycare agency; it accepts the subsidy in all centres and complies with the above fee reductions.

Important Changes to Alberta Child Care Subsidy 2020

Simpler Model

The new model is simpler and easier to understand. Subsidy rates are now exclusively determined by four factors: the child’s age, total family income, the type of program and monthly hours of care.

Increased Rate

In the new model, maximum subsidy rates have increased by 18%. This doesn’t guarantee that you’ll receive an increased amount of subsidy, although you probably will. Read more about the details here .

Income Threshold Change

The annual income threshold for subsidy eligibility has been set at $75,000. The old model didn’t have a clearly defined threshold and eligibility was determined by a complex combination of factors.
